Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult

This book is the latest unputdownable story by the author of My Sisters Keeper. I have been reading Jodie since 1999 and the first book I read was The Pact, sort of a modern day Romeo and Juliet, as the pact refers to a suicide pact between a teenage couple. After that I didn't miss any of her books, and have read or bought most of the back catalogue as well. I am glad she writes a book a year. Every book deals with a current events issue, such as 19 Minutes is about a school shooting, The Plain Truth is about an Amish girl that gets pregnant, and House Rules is about a kid with Asperger's Syndrome who gets accused of murder, and the consequences for him and his family. I would say there are more movies coming out in the future. Wildly original and yet very realistic, these books are keepers for any avid reader.

Chick Lit
My favorite genre is actually chick lit, which is actually a subject heading you can search in the library catalogue! I read Jill Mansell, Fiona Walker, Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella, Isabel Wolff, Louise Bagshawe, Alexandra Darcy and the newest addition is Chrissie Manby. about 75% of the funniest authors are from the UK either England or Ireland.
The book that got me hooked on Chrissie Manby is Getting over Mr Right, and it is a hilarious and heartbreaking story about a girl who is in love with a materialistic jerk who cares so little for her that he dumps her on Fb, and her ultimate revenge. There is a sublpot about her friends wedding that reminds me of the movie Bridesmaids , and is almost as funny.
