I very rarely see movies on the first weekend,especially if they are sequels, but couldn't wait to see this one. POTC 2 and 3 were disappointing,but I liked the fact that Penelope Cruz and Blackbeard (Ian McShane) would be in this one, and that Geoffrey Rush would be returning. I thought the Fountain of Youth idea was clever as well. I think Rob Marshall (Chicago) is a much better director than Gore Verbinski. The movie has a romantic subplot that is very touching and sweet, a welcome break from all the swashbuckling swordfights. Depp and Cruz have great chemistry on screen, and hope she will return for the next movie. My favorite line has to be from Keith Richard's cameo : Jack:Have you been to the fountain of youth? Keith as Pirate Dad: Does this face look like it has been to the fountain of youth? Love how he can be so self deprecating!

So this is the biggest movie opening of the year but not as big an opening weekend as when POTC3 was released! I think that's only because moviegoing in general is down in the last few years . This was definitely my favorite one since the first one, and proof that not all sequels suck!
